(On new White version)Back in the bad old days, people would weigh themselves using clonkity contraptions counter-balanced by boulders, pebbles and stegosaurus eggs. Okay, they didn’t, but we’ve been too busy playing with this revolutionary set of WiFi Bathroom Scales to research the history of weighing machines.
Jason Wroe lost a quarter of his body weight using the scales. Read the Daily Mail storyUltra sleek, this tempered-glass and aluminium gizmoautomatically records your weight, fat mass and BMI(body mass index) every time you step on it. But here’s the clever bit: it beams the info to your computer or iPhoneover your WiFi connection, so you can track your results wherever you may roam via a password protected website or free iPhone app. You can even sync with Google Health and share your progress (or lack of) via email, Twitter or Facebook. Weigh-hay!
Step on and it sends the info to your online account via WiFi... Keep an eye on your weight/fat/BMI Download the free app for your iPhone to compare at the gym!
The WiFi Scale is also compatible with online coaching programs such as Daily Burn and iPhone apps like RunKeeper and WeightBot. You’ll be so busy monitoring your data you might even forget about those doughnuts in the cupboard. Result!
L-R: Black and new White versionIdeal for dieters, gym bunnies, athletes or anyone remotely health conscious, the WiFi Scale is a doddle to use, and its accompanying online browser is rammed with handy features. Step on this wafer-thin slice of tech just once and in a matter of seconds your computer will know more about your body than you do. Faced with this easy-to-follow mountain of info you can’t help but be motivated to the max.
Sarah is on the right track now after that little blip in October! It’s not all about you though. This family-friendly gadget is capable of tracking and storing data for as many as eight users. And get this: it even knows who’s standing on it. No, really. It uses previously recorded data to identify each user. Uncanny or what.
Once you’ve logged into your account you can compare your stats with the ‘ideal’ figures for someone of your age and body type. You can also add notes about your fitness regime and what you’ve eaten each day. It’s as easy as…er, pie. Indeed, if this doesn’t put you on the road to rude health, nothing will. So what are you waiting for? Step on it!

Lava Pillow 2
Lava in a pillow? That would probably make things just a tad bit too hot, but the Lava Pillow has the next best thing, making it the ideal solution to tired and achy muscles… with the next best thing after that being to stop doing things that make your muscles tired and achy.
Instead of being stuffed with feathers or cotton, this pillow is filled with lava mineral particles that retain heat “like no other substance,” allowing you to cut the cord on the heating pad and put the hot water bottle back in Grandma’s closet. Just pop this little pillow in the microwave for two minutes and it’s ready to go to work delivering some relaxing muscle-soothing heat.
Can’t stand the heat? Well, get out of the kitchen – Oh, I mean forget about the fire if the ice is what you crave and stick the pillow in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes to use it as a cold compress.
Details:
- Filled with lava sand
- Stores heat for longer
- A completely dry heat that releases effectively
- Relieve tense muscle, back ,joint, stomach or abdominal pain

- Can improve circulation
Hook yourself up with the pillow that works either hot or cold and grab the Lava Pillow for £24.99 / €30 / $39 from Firebox.com.

Turbine LCD Watch 4
There are a ton of watches with extremely cool designs, but I doubt you’ll find one that resembles the Turbine LCD watch. It’s not really hard to figure out where the concept or inspiration for the watch was derived: turbines, of course.
The watch doesn’t really have a turbine that’s perpetually turning though. Instead, it’s been fitted with LED lights that blink and light up to give the illusion that there’s an actual turbine on it. Sounds pretty amazing, right?
Since it’s primarily a watch design, of course you’d be curious as to how you can read the time off of the watch. Designer Peter from the UK explains:
When the Knob is pressed briefly the time scrolls across the top of the display and would stay on for 10-15 sec’s. When the knob is double pressed the time and backlight are activated. When the knob is pressed and held just the backlight is activated for illuminated animation.
The Turbine LCD watch is a fun concept with a lot of possibilities and variations. It can be fitted with themed watch casings and straps to suit your taste and preferences. For example, there’s a NASA-themed watch and a one that’s got the UK flag all over the watch.
USB Light Show Stick 5
This LED stick lets you display messages in the air. Simple create any message you like on your computer, sync the stick via USB, and start waving.
Customize your messages like “I Love U”, “Sorry!”, or images in JPG/BMP format, install them in the 32-LED Light Show Stick via usb cable. Wave the Light Show stick horizontally, then your message/image will be created in the air by a strip of red LED. Approximate 85 characters can be stored.

The USB 32-LED Light Show Stick ($22) is available from USB Brando.
Muscles Leggings 6
There’s a fine line between being stylish and just being plain weird with the clothes that you’re wearing. Most people judge books by their covers, and by that, I mean by appearances. While I think the idea behind the Muscles Leggings is insanely quirky, I don’t think they’ll help you make much of a fashion statement.
These leggings are printed from front to back with what’s underneath your skin. They’ll give everyone a good look at what the lower half of your body would look like, if the skin were stripped from off of you. Not a very pretty sight to imagine, right?
They were designed by James Lillis from Australia, who called it his most “meaty” design.
If you’re ready to bare more than humanly possible with these Muscles Leggings, they’re available from Black Milk for AU$75 ($81.)
Hot Pot Barbeque 7
The Hot Pot Barbeque is all about cooking on the bottom and storing your herb garden on top. This two-in-one barbecue and herb garden is perfect for those who love herbs and have a limited amount of space for their grill.
It looks like terracotta, but it’s really ceramic-coated stainless steel. The upper half is where you can keep your basil, sage or other fresh herbs to use while cooking. The grill below is where you cook it all up.
This clever space saving solution is just $124 from Uncommon Goods.

Love Stinks
Celebrate singleness with these gifts for the scorned
by Lizz WestmanFor those still getting over the never-ending relationship-centered questions posed by their families between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, Valentine’s Day is awful at best. Even people in stable and happy relationships bemoan the pressures of Cupid—and they’re the ones for whom this wretched holiday was designed.
No one needs a cheap, arbitrary day in the sad dregs of winter to remind them of their failed relationships—or that they spent last Saturday night in pajamas, watching all the Michael Fassbender scenes from the X-Men movie on repeat while nursing a humongous glass of 2010 sauvignon blanc.
Honestly, what’s a single person to do on February 14? A lot, actually.
If you’re getting over a serious breakup:
Sell your rings and other shiny things at Never Liked It Anyway, a site offering real-world diamonds, dresses and other once-precious goodies at break-up prices. The site also offers a place to tell your brokenhearted tale and commiserate with others.
Never received anything that great from a past relationship? Well, you can always get rid of whatever is left on eBay and use the money to buy your own damn diamond ring. Or at least a diamond ring bottle opener ($12) from Fred Flare.
Still mulling over what went wrong:
Remind yourself why things didn’t work out with this handy Split Decision Pro and Con Journal($12.99) from ModCloth. And while you’re at it, use this helpful Knock Knock Hey A**hole Pad to explain to your ex why you’re still upset or why you sold the Xbox for a song.
Of course, if that doesn’t work, you could attempt to get your strength back by consuming this ThinkGeek bleeding heart gummy ($6.99). (Get ThinkGeek coupons.)
Still not enough? Invest in new cutlery—specifically the Ex Voodoo Knife Set ($79) from Perpetual Kid. Available in three colors, these utensils will help you make the meal you always loved but he or she hated. And while you’re dabbling in the black arts, plan your ex’s future misfortunes on 60 cathartic pages of the Paper Voodoo Pad ($13.70) from Amazon. (Get Amazon coupons.)
After you’re done, indulge in some fine Jacques Torres Chocolate ($19.20–$66) and 26-ounce martinis ($13.99) from Vat19. Watch the new season of Cougartown (premiering on Valentine’s Day!) and you won’t be drinking alone. (Get Vat19 coupons.)
If you still need to wallow a little more, that’s fine. Just make sure you’re outfitted for the occasion with the Knock Knock Breakup Recovery Kit ($14). (Get Knock Knock coupons.)
Or maybe you’re ready to move on:
We recommend starting out with celebrity crushes like the ones in this Geeky Dreamboats: A Celebration book ($13.95) from Fred Flare. (We like Bret and Jemaine the best!)
Or you could go in the other direction and bring home 12 guys ($9.99) at once—all of whom your mother will approve. (Get Fred Flare coupons.)
But really, when you’re ready to get back out there, know that you don’t have to do it alone. Try to weigh your options and avoid any past mistakes with this Rate-A-Date Notepad ($6.99) from Perpetual Kid. Note: We recommend hiding this in a very safe location in case any potential suitors get comfortable in your home. (Get Perpetual Kid coupons.)
Our last bit of advice? Hang in there. February 14 is just another day on the calendar. Another cold and dark day to snuggle with your dog or cat, eat Indian food, watch art films, go to the museum or do whatever else it is you always wanted to do but couldn’t when you were in a relationship with a no-good dirtbag who thought your hobbies were boring and pretentious. Jerk.
For more sweetheart deals, check out our Valentine’s Day coupon page.Tim Noble and Sue Webster create insouciant masterpieces that flaunt a meticulous eye for detail. Their incredible shadow projections are irreverent shrines to themselves, crafted out of perfectly arranged trash heaps. Noble and Webster work with contradictions: light and shadow, beauty and garbage, fame and anonymity, form and abstraction, high art and rock-n-roll, and the results are thought-provoking.
The two artists, who describe themselves as 'consistently inconsistent', compose an ordered, almost formal portrait, out of the chaos of trash and dead animals. They are also known for their light installations that riff of Las Vegas' location as being a place somewhere between heaven and hell. The pieces walk the line between fantasy and nightmare; both sacred and profane, they embody a modern poetry, with cigarette butts and humping rats thrown in to ensure you're not getting ahead of yourself.
Tim Noble and Sue Webster's book British Rubbish was published last year and includes an introduction by Nick Cave and contributions by Jeffrey Deitch and Michael Bracewell. The monograph will explore their body of work over the last twenty years. The artists will be in New York signing copies of their book at The New Museum Bookshop, located on the ground floor of The New Museum on March 2nd from 7-9pm, so mark your calendars.
